Hitachi GE Vernova Nuclear Energy was established in 2007 by Hitachi and GE Vernova (formerly General Electric) of the United States, to contribute to the nuclear energy business. Inheriting the technologies and experience of both companies, which have extensive experience in the nuclear energy business spanning five decades, we are working to develop environmentally friendly nuclear energy operations while at the same time engaging in highly reliable manufacturing. Through synergies with our US sister company, GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy, and other overseas partner companies, we seek to provide highly reliable, safe, and economical products and services ranging from research and development to the design, manufacturing, construction, and maintenance of advanced boiling water reactors (ABWRs*), small modular reactors, fast reactors, and other facilities relating to the nuclear fuel cycle, through a consistent framework.

Hitachi GE Vernova Nuclear Energy provides technology development and services for decommissioning and decontamination relating to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station through the combined strengths of the Hitachi Group. We are also working toward the early restart of existing power plants by improving the safety of nuclear power plants and supporting efforts to ensure compliance with new regulatory standard inspections. We are also working to develop new next-generation reactors that meet market needs, to improve capacity factor and power output, and to develop solutions that support advanced plant operation, by combining digital technologies with existing technologies and experience we have accumulated in the nuclear energy business over the past around 70 years, since its establishment in the 1950s
Hitachi GE Vernova Nuclear Energy works together with the other companies of the Hitachi Group in an integrated framework encompassing the business fields of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel, and the nuclear fuel cycle, to provide safe, reliable, economically viable products and services. We are also working to further improve on the technologies and economics of light-water nuclear reactors, which currently account for the bulk of nuclear power generation, and are engaged in research and development efforts combining our total capabilities with the aim of commercializing new reactor technologies such as fast reactors.
