HASHIMOTO Takuma

4th Year Electronic Systems Engineering Student, National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College

I am originally from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
I experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake at the age of three.

After enrolling at the National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College, I learned about the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in my second year, which sparked my interest in nuclear power generation and decommissioning. I have visited facilities related to decommissioning, including the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Oma Nuclear Power Construction Site, Higashidori Nuclear Power Plant, and the Tsuruga Nuclear Power Plant, where I studied safety measures and decommissioning technologies. In February 2025, I received the Presentation Encouragement Award at the 10th Next-Generation Initiative Decommissioning Technology Conference. Since my third year, I have been engaged in the development and research of robots related to decommissioning.

As a student studying decommissioning in Fukushima, I believe that the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant represents a long-term challenge that will shape the future of Fukushima. I consider it an important role for us to continue learning about the advanced technologies and expertise required for this effort. In order to contribute to decommissioning work in the future, I aim to deepen my understanding of relevant technologies and steadily build my knowledge through lectures and learning opportunities both inside and outside of school.
