ITO Hina
Construction Department, beABLE CO., LTD.
Born in 2003 and raised in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, I studied commerce at Odaka Industrial Technology High School before pursuing further specialized education at a vocational college in Sendai. Driven by a strong desire to contribute to Fukushima’s recovery, I joined beABLE CO.,LTD.
I am currently a member of the Construction Department, engaging in decommissioning work at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, primarily in construction management. Last summer, through an invitation from an NPO in Hirono Town, I participated in a study program with high school students on the theme of “Challenges and Proposals for the Final Disposal of High-Level Radioactive Waste.” We visited nuclear-related facilities in Aomori and Fukushima, as well as Switzerland, a country recognized for its advanced approach to radioactive waste disposal.
Seeing these sites firsthand allowed me to view these issues as my own responsibility and deepened my commitment to Fukushima’s recovery and to future generations. This valuable experience has broadened my perspective as I learned about different approaches towards doing things in Japan and abroad. I will continue to see, listen, and learn in order to deepen my understanding of nuclear energy, and to contribute to Fukushima’s ongoing recovery while sharing my experiences with others.
