KUROSAKI Ken

Born in March 1973 in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan.
He received his B.E. in Nuclear Engineering from Osaka University in March 1995, and his M.E. in Nuclear Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, in March 1997. He withdrew from the doctoral program in Nuclear Engineering at Osaka University in July 1998.

In August 1998, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University and Associate Professor in April 2009. In April 2019, he became Professor at the Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University, and has been in his current position since April 2023. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University in November 2003.

His research interests include nuclear engineering, materials science, nuclear fuels, and materials informatics. He has served as Chair of the Nuclear Energy Subcommittee of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Chair of the Nuclear Energy R&D, Infrastructure, Human Resources Working Group of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and as a member of the the Advisory Committee on Nuclear Fuel Safety of the Nuclear Regulation Authority, among other roles.

His hobbies include listening to music and attending live concerts, listening to FM802, adventuring in video game worlds, watching shogi and sumo matches, and taking care of his pet cats.
