UESAKA Mitsuru
Chairperson, Japan Atomic Energy Commission, Cabinet Office
Dr. UESAKA, Mitsuru, who served as Chairperson of Japan Atomic Commission (JAEC) since December 16th 2020, was reappointed as the Chairperson on December 16th 2023, for another three-year term.
Prior to the appointment as the Chairperson of the Commission, he had been a professor at the University of Tokyo, specializing in nuclear science, engineering and management. He obtained his Bachelor (1980), Master (1982) and Doctor (1985) of Engineering from the University of Tokyo. He entered academia as an associate professor at the University of Tokyo in 1991, after working as an engineer at Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) Co. (1985-1991).
He was the President of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) from 2016 to 2018, a member of the International Nuclear Management Academy (INMA) of the IAEA from 2013 to 2019, a cooperation member of Science Council of Japan from 2017 to 2020 and so on.
