KAWATANI Chiaki
1st Year Graduate Student, Graduate School of Engineering and Science, Civil Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology
Born in Chiba Prefecture.
She entered the Department of Civil Engineering at the Shibaura Institute of Technology after becoming interested in infrastructure structures such as roads and tunnels when she was a high school student. She learned that civil engineering, translated into English as “civil engineering,” is a discipline closely related to people’s daily lives, and that safe and secure daily living is based on civil engineering. She is interested in manufacturing and wanted to learn about concrete, which is an important material that supports social infrastructure.
Since a large amount of carbon dioxide is emitted during the production of cement, which is a constituent material of concrete, she is currently conducting research to achieve carbon neutrality in concrete production.
Nuclear power generation is an important infrastructure and plays an important role in contributing to global warming countermeasures as a clean energy source with low carbon dioxide emissions, so she would like to think deeply about nuclear power generation in relation to my research.
