Accelerating Nuclear Power Utilization
Towards Realizing New Builds
The Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) holds the “JAIF Annual Conference” that attracts a wide range of domestic and international stakeholders to gather in Japan each spring. Through presentations and discussions on critical issues related to nuclear energy, its use and development, the conference aims to share insights and understanding among stakeholders on key challenges and their solutions, while promoting exchange and mutual understanding.
The global momentum for proactive utilization of nuclear power is stronger than ever, with various efforts underway to harness its value as a decarbonized power source. In Japan, the recent approval of the 7th Strategic Energy Plan by the Cabinet could not have come at a better time as it clearly emphasizes the necessity of maximizing the use of low-carbon power sources such as nuclear power.
The 58th Annual Conference will focus on accelerating the deployment of nuclear power while keeping in mind the necessity of establishing an effective business environment under the 7th Strategic Energy Plan. In pursuit of new nuclear build, which is key to addressing the challenges faced by the nuclear industry, discussions will center on industry efforts and potential solutions related to financing and investment recovery schemes, supply chain, and human resources securing and development. In addition, the conference will also highlight the resilience and recovery efforts of local stakeholders in Fukushima and provide an opportunity to envision the future of the nuclear industry with the next generation of young leaders.

VOICES OF THE 57TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
I reaffirmed the importance of finance within the framework of nuclear business environment development towards carbon neutrality.
I would like to regularly hear presentations on the current state of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. It was good to get a real sense of the recovery progress.
It is a valuable opportunity to hear from international organizations like the IAEA, so please continue to provide such sessions.
Participating as a young professional, I gained insights that I could not obtain in my own work, which was extremely beneficial.
